Question:  With my DSLAM, we seem to go through more than one G.HS attempt, some of them fail in G.HS stage, some fail at what our CPE unit thinks is MEDELY, but it looks like by the time we get to the Channel Analysis stage the DSLAM is transmitting the G.HS C-Tones. The DSL Xpert™ seems to pick up the session from the moment of the first successful G.HS + ADSL exchange. Is there a way to pick up the unsuccessful attempts before the successful ones or to do a manual start and stop?

Answer:

In DSL Xpert application version 1.3.0.240 and higher it is possible to start capture immediately, without having to identify the start of a new Handshake. For this purpose, use the “Capture Anyway” button in the Capture dialog box.

Please note that when using this feature, the analysis process will probably be a little slower than usual because of the "garbage" recorded at the beginning of the capture file.
